The great spiritual, psychological, ecological, and economic crisis facing humanity today is unprecedented in the entire history of our species and thus gives us the wonderful opportunity to open to the Totality of Existence and so cocreate an unprecedented solution. For as Albert Einstein famously said, you cannot solve a problem with the mindset that created it. And as Eckhart Tolle wrote in A New Earth, “We are a species that has lost its way.”

The most critical, unknown problem facing humanity is that scientists and technologists are driving change in society at exponential rates of acceleration, but we technologists have not yet provided a satisfactory scientific explanation why we are behaving in this way. In the stored-program computer, we have invented a tool that extends our mental abilities, in some cases replacing them, unlike the many tools we have invented over the millennia to extend our rather limited physical abilities.

But because we don’t know what it means to be a human being, we don’t understand what we have invented. We are thus running our business affairs with little understanding of the creative evolutionary energies that cause us to behave as we do, rather like driving along the highway faster and faster with our eyes closed, not very sensible.

Amazingly, for a species that has rather arrogantly called itself Homo sapiens sapiens, ‘wise, wise human’, this last great scientific puzzle is not on the agenda of any university, scientific institute, or research and development department in any technological company anywhere in the world. Indeed, no one on Earth even seems to be aware that understanding what is causing the pace of change to accelerate exponentially is a problem that remains to be solved.

There are four primary reasons and many others why we are as ignorant today as our ancestors were in the Middle Ages before the great scientic revolution in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. First, our minds have become fragmented and split because we are all the manifestations of some fourteen billion years of evolution, which has been more divergent than convergent over the aeons. We see this in the wonderful diversity of forms of life around us, but these differences have also led to religious demarcations, academic specialization, and the division of labour in the workplace, at the root of so much conflict and suffering.

Secondly, this fragmentation has led us to believe that we are separate from the Divine, Nature, and each other, while, in Reality, we are all one, as an increasing number of people are realizing today. Our health, well-being, and even survival as a species is thus dependent on us all working harmoniously together with a common vision, founded on the seven pillars of wisdom, rather than the seven pillars of unwisdom on which Western civilization is based: misconceptions of God, Universe, Life, humanity, money, justice, and reason.

Thirdly, because of the delusions that arise from this fragmentation, we believe that the physical universe is the primary reality and that the physicists can tell us what the Universe is and how it is designed. But a materialistic, mechanistic science based on physics or biology—its aspiring usurper to the crown—cannot possibly explain what is happening to humanity at the present time. If we are to develop an integral mental map of the Universe, we can only do so through self-inquiry, regarding psychology, the science of the mind and consciousness, as primary. We can then put everything in its proper perspective, seeing, for instance, that politics, economics, history, philosophy, and all the sciences and religions are just branches of psychology.

Fourthly, as a corollary, we cannot understand what is happening to humanity today while there is a war going on between reason and religion, science and spirituality, mathematics and mysticism, and East and West. The only way forward for humanity is to heal this deep wound in the collective psyche.

So “Do we have the vitality to go beyond narrow, one-sided views of human life and to open ourselves to totality, wholeness?” in the inspiring words of Vimala Thakar, continuing “The call of the hour is to move beyond the fragmentary, to awaken to total revolution.” The central purpose of the Paragonian Foundation is thus to show how we could lovingly support each other in Awakening to Total Revolution, exploring the final frontier of human adventure—the Cosmic Psyche—and so realize our fullest potential as a Divine, Cosmic species.

The word paragonian derives from Greek para ‘beyond’ and agon ‘contest’ or ‘conflict’, a word that is also the root of agony, until the 17th century meaning ‘mental stress’, antagonist, ‘a person who one struggles against’, and protagonist, ‘leading person in a contest’. So paragonian means ‘beyond conflict and suffering’, a healthy, liberated, and awakened way of being that we can realize when we see with self-reflective Intelligence that Consciousness is the Cosmic Context for all our lives and that Love is the Divine Essence that we all share.

The Principle of Unity—the fundamental design principle of the Universe—is guiding the Foundation’s activities. This universal truth, applicable in all situations, can be expressed in just seven words—Wholeness is the union of all opposites—or six mathematical symbols: W = A ∪ ~A. So in a word with a Western etymology, paragonian encapsulates the Principle of Unity, denoting the essence of Advaita ‘not-two’, Tantra ‘contextual continuum’—unifying the opposites of ‘warp’ and ‘weft’, from Sanskrit tantram ‘loom’, from tan ‘to stretch, extend’—and Yoga ‘union’, also root of join and yoke.

Naturally, the Principle of Unity is the lynchpin or arching stone for Integral Relational Logic (IRL), the equalitarian, commonsensical science of thought that we all use everyday to form concepts and organize our ideas. In turn, IRL provides the skeleton, framework, or system of coordinates for the Unified Relationships Theory (URT), the much sought-for Theory of Everything, a coherent body of knowledge that can describe all Nature’s forces—both psychospiritual and physical—within a single, all-encompassing framework.

The Paragonian Foundation is following a three-prong strategy. First, by healing the fragmented mind in Wholness, the primary purpose of Project Heraclitus within the auspices of the Paragonian University is to complete the revolution in science that has been taking place for the past few decades, just as Newton’s Principia completed the Copernican revolution in 1687.

As Project Heraclitus shows that Consciousness is all there is through rigorous reason and as spiritual seekers the world over intuitively know this deep in their hearts, the Paragonian Fellowship will complement the University, providing a common focus for spiritual seekers liberating humanity from its mind-forged shackles to Love with love.

With these two prerequisites, the Paragonian Business Academy will show how we could use the business modelling methods that information systems architects use to build the Internet—the evolutionary precursors for IRL—to work harmoniously together to cocreate a meaningful global information system as the infrastructure for the Sharing Economy, recognizing that we are all one.

The purpose of Paragonian Publications, the only constituent that so far legally exists, will be to act as a communications channel for the Foundation’s evolutionary and involutionary activities.

The Paragonian University is so named because university, like universe, has a Latin root meaning ‘turned into one whole’. But universities today are deeply fragmented, with many specialisms, very far from living up to their name, falling far short of the wisdom that the young are desperately crying out for.

In contrast, the University will be transcultural and transdisciplinary, engaged in integrating all knowledge in all cultures and disciplines at all times into a coherent whole. Through self-inquiry, pioneering students at this virtual centre of learning will focus attention in learning IRL, in making explicit the science of thought that we all implicitly use everyday.

This universal mapmaking technique will then give us the context, framework, and foundation on which to build URT. By starting afresh at the very beginning, we can demolish the seven pillars of unwisdom, rebuilding the entire world of learning on the seven pillars of wisdom, on prisca sapientia ‘ancient wisdom’, which Newton the Heretic spent 25 years attempting to rediscover through his studies of alchemy and theology.

The result of this experiment in learning is that individual consciousness expands so far and fast that it becomes coterminous with Consciousness, thereby unifying the incompatible contextual concepts of Universe and God, bringing the long-running war between science and religion to an end, the greatest revolution in the history of Western thought.

Many spiritual seekers today are intuitively aware in their own direct experience of the ancient wisdom being discovered today through computer science and quantum physics. The essence of this rebirth is that more and more people are discovering that we are never separate from the Divine for an instant, and that Love is the Divine Essence we all share, in contradiction of the traditional teachings of the monotheistic religions, which assert that God is other, that there is a great gulf between the Absolute and humanity that can never be bridged, the first pillar of unwisdom in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

The overall purpose of the Paragonian Fellowship—as a complement to the University—is thus to provide the spiritual renaissance taking place today with a shared context and foundation. This is a revolution that is emerging very much through intuitive, feminine energies, arising from the grass roots. However, this Liberating-of-Love movement lacks cohesion and a common vision. So we are thus seeking to create a network of networks that can generate the synergy we need to create a miracle. For synergy arises through new relationships that are formed, apparently out of nothing.

With the emerging scientific revolution and spiritual renaissance as prerequisites, the principal goal of the Paragonian Business Academy is to synergistically cocreate an economic revolution, recognizing that our health and well-being as a species is dependent on us all working harmoniously together with a common vision, free of the divisiveness of pathogenic monetary systems. By recognizing that in Reality we are all one, with no borders either within us or between us, we shall be engaged in cocreating a life-enhancing economy called the Sharing Economy, ecologically sustainable for as long as human beings continue to dwell on our beautiful planet Earth.
